Patna: Two days after ten serial blasts rocked the Bodh Gaya temple town, Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh and senior leader Arun Jaitley visited the Mahabodhi temple on Tuesday.
The visit comes amidst the BJP leaders yesterday trained guns on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for failure to prevent the terror attack on the Mahabodhi temple.
Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh today said that the BJP doesn’t wants to play politics on the issue of terrorism.
“BJP will stand by the government to fight terrorism or to deal with Maoists,” Rajnath said.
Speaking to reporters, the BJP president said the government must provide all possible security in Mahabodhi temple and take strict action against the perpetrators.
Interestingly at a time when BJP leaders were yesterday seen hitting out at the JD(U) government over the blasts, Rajnath Singh chose to be soft on the state government and said, “No state can act against terror by itself and it need central government’s support."
The BJP president also refused to comment on Congress leaders Digvijay Singh’s twitter statements on BJP poll panel chief Narendra Modi.
Digvijay yesterday took a dig at Narendra Modi, saying that the blasts took place a day after Modi addressed BJP workers and asked them to teach Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a lesson.
Digvijay wrote on Twitter: “Flip side of this. Amit Shah promises a Grand Temple at Ayodhya. Modi addresses Bihar BJP workers and asks them to teach Nitish a lesson.”
“Next day Bomb Blasts at Mahabodhi Temple at Bodhgaya. Is there a connect? I don't know. ALLOW NIA TO COMPLETE INVESTIGATION PLEASE !(sic).”
Former Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi yesterday hit out at Nitish Kumar calling his visit to the Buddhist pilgrim town after Sunday's blasts as mere 'eyewash'.
Modi told newsmen that the serial blasts could have been averted had adequate security arrangements been put in place at Mahabodhi temple and adjoining areas after the alerts.
Normal life was severely hit in Bihar's Gaya district on Monday as BJP and RJD gave separate bandh calls to protest against the state government's alleged security lapses that led to the terror attack in the temple town.
BJP workers took to the streets from early Monday morning to enforce the dawn-to-dusk bandh forcing shops and business establishments to close down, the sources said.
A series of blasts had occurred at Bodh Gaya early Sunday morning. Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde confirmed today that as many as 13 bombs were planted inside the temple complex of which ten had has exploded.
